My previous still life series are groupings of objects to make an arrangement of colours and shapes. My new work is more about an object or objects themselves rather than their grouping or composition while the background is more abstract suggesting space or light.
The objects are not representing anything, they are remnants of our human culture and I just choose them for their form, patina or whatever I find interesting about them, they are usually ordinary banal things of life that I have picked up in second hand shops. I hope they reflect a joyfulness of the ordinary.
