28 Oct now for something different
My last painting effort was a marathon and I have been looking for something like a quick sprint, a paring down, a new language. The painting below is more an idea of a landscape rather than an optical representation. Though it is from a photograph I took in Henley Park in Masterton which I have included below. I’m reasonably sure I could do these paintings at the rate of one a week, as long as I can find the images and the inspiration sticks around.
I am still working in my former style photorealist style on a city scene, but even that maybe simplified, I’m still thinking about it.

As it is my first effort I am not being too hard on myself, but next time I would plan a little more to avoid overworking.

A grouping of trees in Henley Park, Masterton, photo taken in August 2016. I think a rather bland sort of photograph, which I am partial too, I am more interested in the ordinary rather than the sublime.

It is good to see how a painting will stand up alongside other work. Here is a painting that took a week beside my last painting that probably has a total of 3 or 4 months of work time. I think it is okay … for the time being.
