Text from the Plaque; Burnside Church. Following the gift of land from Donald Sinclair. Local settlers contributed funds to build this church. It was officially dedicated by the Rev. J. McKee on 15 May 1875. This plaque was unveiled by the Governor General Sir Paul Reeves 3 June 1990. Sinclair's daughter Ann inherited adjacent farmland and she looked after the church until her death 1958 aged 96.
