New Suburbia

The year was 2012 when I began photographing in the suburbs. Six years had passed since arriving in Wellington. I had been wandering streets, photographing mostly the shabby urban aspect of older Wellington. Places were now becoming gentrified. I decided to venture further and see what was in the suburbs.  I found places that I didn’t know existed, it was like a film set. The houses were being built in  shapes and forms that I had not been aware of. Do these houses reflect who we we are now? I wondered what it would be like to live here, the only sounds, a lawnmower, a dog barking or a skill saw.
